Malgova, also spelt Malgoa or Mulgoa, is one of South India most loved table mangoes. It is famous for its heavy, rounded fruit, thick golden flesh and very low fibre. Grown in Salem and allowed to ripen naturally, it is free from chemical ripeners and artificial colour. The dense pulp is rich and sweet, offering vitamin C, vitamin A precursors and potassium. Its firm, meaty texture makes it superb for eating fresh in neat slices or cubes. The same firmness holds up well in fruit salads and desserts.
